Hands On Children's Museum

HENDERSONVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA

As the Hands On Children’s Museum of Western NC expanded from 4,000 to 13,000 sq. ft. the Design Dimension team was selected to design and build interactive exhibits with STEAM focused play.

The new exhibits highlight many unique aspects of industry and history around Henderson County. As part of the exhibit program development, we aimed to create playful, interactive experiences that are focused on the local community. The hands-on elements include a beehive, apple orchard, conveyor belt, fire truck, ice cream stand, global cafe/kitchen, and the Advent Health center. Each vignette offers manipulatives, multilevel play, and educational moments that suit all ages, including adults! These spaces were designed to work together as visitors move from space to space, simulating real scenarios and interactions.

When in AVL

“Our kids loved it. We spent two hours there and we could have spent many more. Lots to do and big enough that it never feels particularly crowded in any one spot. All toys and displays are clean and high quality. We really enjoyed it and will be back!”
