Discovery Uwharrie Welcome Center

TROY, NORTH CAROLINA

This visitor center, located on the main street in Troy, is the information hub for all types of experiences in the Uwharrie region. Start your journey here by discovering the land adventures, water adventures, off-road adventures, and regional history and culture.

Begin your Adventure

The exhibits in the center are arranged to give visitors just a peek into the activities that are offered in the Uwharrie National Forest: hiking, horseback riding, biking, camping, kayaking, and off-roading. A central map helps visitors orient themselves to plan for a day trip or weekend getaway, or to create a checklist of things to do. Three stations allow visitors to have an immersive experience to understand the trail system.

An off-road Jeep has been cut in half, giving visitors the driver’s seat experience on a rocky trail. Keep an eye out for your speed and remember to brake! A mountain bike and kayak are used to show off the trail systems throughout the forest.

Most importantly, a message of safety and appreciation for the land is woven throughout the experience.
