Catawba Science Center
Treehouse Adventures

HICKORY, NORTH CAROLINA

The exhibit's elaborate scene setting allows kids to use their imagination to create their own treehouse adventure!

Treehouse Adventures is an exhibit for Catawba Science Center’s youngest guests. The exhibit takes visitors through all four seasons of the year, with unique hands-on interactives specific to each section. Visitors can set sail in the "Treehouse Adventures" boat, explore hide and seek panels, build a snowman, harvest crops, shop for fresh produce in the farm stand, and more!

We stocked the inside of the treehouse with a map, binoculars, and talk tubes from one end of the tree to the other. Our design solution for this space will encourage kids to use their imaginations, test motor skills, and inspire new interactions with family and friends.

Velo-City!

HICKORY, NORTH CAROLINA

The Velo-City exhibits at Catawba Science Center feature eight exciting hands-on interactive stations that explore gravity, force, friction,
and energy.

Using planes, trains, cars, athletes, and construction, the exhibits show how physics are applied to real-world, everyday situations. Learn how to balance your fuel by steering a plane in perfect flight, test friction on a racetrack with different surfaces, and clock speed in downhill tracks. The custom Newton’s cradle “wrecking ball” demonstrates the conservation of momentum and the conservation of energy on a large scale. By mixing physics with fun, we are teaching visitors how to see physics in everyday life!
