The Velo-City exhibits at Catawba Science Center feature eight exciting hands-on interactive stations that explore gravity, force, friction, and energy.
Mixing Physics with Fun!
Using planes, trains, cars, athletes, and construction, the exhibits show how physics are applied to real-world, everyday situations. Learn how to balance your fuel by steering a plane in perfect flight, test friction on a racetrack with different surfaces, and clock speed in downhill tracks. The custom Newton’s cradle “wrecking ball” demonstrates the conservation of momentum and the conservation of energy on a large scale. By mixing physics with fun, we are teaching visitors how to see physics in everyday life!
