The overall gate size is 12 feet tall by 16 feet wide. A structural space frame is cut out of aluminum sheets on our new CNC router. The structure is then skinned with perforated aluminum sheets, giving the gate a translucent appearance. Because the gate is opened and closed daily, it was necessary to reinforce it with a spine near one end that acts as the hinge and with a load bearing caster at the other end.
