In October we took a trip to Windsor, NC to hold a bird-house building day with a group of local kids at the Roanoke-Cashie River Center. Located along the Cashie River, Windsor is home to over 50 species of neotropical birds, who migrate from tropical regions of Central/South America and the Caribbean.
Quickly we learned that the children needed very little assistance from us. Using scrap wood from our shops, leftover paint and other recycled materials we provided, the kids each created remarkably unique and unusual bird houses. These birdhouses will soon be on display at the Roanoke Cashie River Center, as part of an interactive exhibit on neotropical bird migration.
