It’s been an exciting few weeks at Design Dimension! We are finishing up the installation of “Down Home: Jewish Life in North Carolina”, a traveling exhibit for the Jewish Heritage Foundation of North Carolina.
“Down Home” touches on the history, culture, and religion of the Jewish people in North Carolina. For more than 400 years, Jews have shaped North Carolina life. Along the way, they themselves were transformed as Jewish culture and traditions encountered Southern customs and manners. North Carolina Jews grounded their lives in timeless values—family, community, faith, learning—but here these values took on new meanings and inflections that blended past and present. Come explore how for tens of thousands of North Carolina Jews—your ancestors, your friends, your neighbors—“down there” became “down home.”
The exhibit’s Gala opening is June 13th at 5pm with special guest speaker Susan Stamberg at the North Carolina Museum of History. Ticketing information can be found at the Jewish Heritage Foundation of North Carolina’s website.
